Yongyu Zhang serves as the director of the Research Center for Marine Biology and Carbon Sequestration at Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on: 1) Algae-bacteria-virus interactions and their roles in driving oceanic carbon sequestration; 2) Carbon sequestration of seaweed farming. To date, he has published over 100 pear-reviewed papers in high-impact journals, including Science Advances, Nature Communications, National Science Review, Global Change Biology, Limnology & Oceanography, The ISME Journal, etc.
