Cheng Wang is a Professor at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University. He received his PhD from Zhejiang University in 2014, followed by postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology in Germany, where he worked under the guidance of renowned marine microbiologist Professor Rudolf Amann. Wang has dedicated his career to investigating carbon and nitrogen cycling processes driven by microorganisms in coastal wetlands. His research focuses on exploring synergistic mechanisms between mangrove wetland ecological restoration and emission reduction/carbon sequestration enhancement in the context of dual carbon goals. He has led multiple research projects, including three National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and three Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation projects. Prof. Wang has published 30 papers in authoritative journals such as Trends in Microbiology, The ISME Journal, Microbiome, Environmental Science & Technology, and Water Research. His work has received significant international recognition with over 4,700 SCI citations and an H-index of 38. Additionally, he has applied for six national invention patents.
