Jianping Li is a full professor and dean of Academy of Future Ocean (AFO), Ocean University of China (OUC). He is also Vice-Director of Committee of Directors of Frontiers Science Center for Deep Ocean Multispheres and Earth System/OUC, Director of Center for Ocean Carbon Neutrality/OUC, and “AoShan Talent” Outstanding Scientist at Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology, China. He is Chair of the Union Commission on Climatic and Environmental Change (CCEC) of IUGG (International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics), President of the International Commission of Climate (ICCL)/IAMAS, Fellow of IUGG, Fellow of Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), an Affiliate Faculty of University of Hawaii, IUGG Liaison Officer to IPCC (2023-2027). He is Executive Editor of Climate Dynamics, Editor of Environmental Research Letters, Deputy Chief Editor of Advances in Climate Change Research, Editor of Scientific Reports, Editor of Theoretical and Applied Climatology, Editor of Advances in Atmospheric Sciences, and Co-Coordinator of the International Project of East Asian Climate (EAC), etc. His major research interests include understanding dynamics and predictability of climate variability and monsoon system, air-sea interaction and climate change. He has published more than 500 peer-reviewed papers and has edited several books. His H-Index is 70 (Google) and citation number is more than 20,000 (Google). He was featured among the 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020 & 2019 World's Top 2% Scientists List (Stanford University), 2023, 2022, 2021 & 2020 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers (Elsevier), the Reuters Hot List of the World’s Top 1,000 Climate Scientists, 2024 & 2023 Research.com Earth Science in China Leader Award, 2024, 2023 & 2022 Best Earth Science Scientists, and the Ranking of World's Top 100,000 Scientists as well. He also earned many other awards and honors. As Chairs, Co-Chairs, Secretary-General, Conveners or Co-conveners, he organized more than 90 international conferences/workshops/symposia/sessions. He presented more than 70 keynote speeches and invited talks at international conferences/workshops.
