Elisa Furlan is a Senior Scientist at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC), where she leads research and applied work in climate change adaptation planning, nature-based solution (NbS) design and monitoring, and territorial resilience. She is currently the Scientific Project Coordinator of two flagship projects funded under the EU Mission on Climate Change Adaptation – DesirMED and GRACE. She has contributed to several Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 projects, including MaCoBioS, REST-COAST, NBRACER, TRANSEATION, and BlueGreenGovernance, with a research portfolio rooted in supporting evidence-based policy through advanced multi-hazard risk modelling, including the application of AIbased techniques, and participatory co-design processes. Dr. Furlan has published extensively in both academic and policy-oriented outlets, focusing on the synergies and co-benefits of Nature-based Solutions, climate risk and resilience assessments, and capacity-building for adaptive governance. She also serves as an adjunct professor at Ca’Foscari University of Venice, where she contributes to academic courses on ecological risk assessment and decision support systems for climate change adaptation.
